Please note:
· All VBB single tickets, group cards, weekly, monthly, and annual tickets, business tickets and semester tickets are accepted.
· If you would like to upgrade your ticket in order to travel first class, you have to cash an upgrading ticket.
· VBB tickets are not available in any DB long-distance trains (IC, EC, D, except for the express train Potsdam - Prenzlau). For the use of one of these trains, please make sure that you hold a valid VBB ticket.
· Tickets cannot be validated in DB long-distance trains.
· It is possible to take along further people if holding a VBB Umweltkarte (commutation ticket).
· Holders of a pass for severely handicapped people (and token) may use the economy class of the above mentioned lines at no charge.
· For dogs and bicycles in all IC or EC trains and express train Potsdam - Prenzlau DB terms of carriage are mandatory.
· Brandenburg-Berlin Ticket and Brandenburg-Berlin Ticket Night are accepted also.
· Weekend tickets are not valid.

Travelling 1st class

If you would like to upgrade your ticket in order to travel first class, you have to cash an upgrading ticket (see the tariff schedule for fares).

It is not possible to upgrade your ticket to 1st class for seven days, a month, or an annual year ticket if holding either a student’s ticket/apprentice’s ticket, sibling’s ticket for students or a semester ticket. Holders of a severely handicapped pass with token are allowed to use the economy class of the above mentioned lines free of charge. It is not possible to upgrade to 1st class.

Specials for BahnCard Holders

BahnCard 25 and 50
You can obtain reduced VBB single and daily tickets if you hold a BahnCard 25, BahnCard 25 First, BahnCard 50, or BahnCard 50 First (variations of bahn.comfort also). This special offers you to use all VBB means of public transport within the area covered by VBB except for trips which take place within the tariff areas ABC of the following cities: Berlin, Brandenburg an der Havel, Cottbus, Frankfurt (Oder), Potsdam as well as all cities providing own line operations. Jugend BahnCard 25 is excluded from the special.

Holders of BahnCard 25 or BahnCard 50 First can travel 1st class all day long by cashing an extra upgrading ticket for one single trip.

Mobility BahnCard 100
If you hold a Mobility BahnCard 100 or a Mobility BahnCard 100 First, you can take all long-distance and regional trains as well as the suburban train S-Bahn within the area of VBB. Your BahnCard 100 works also as CityTicket and permits you to use any other VBB means of public transport for the following VBB tariff areas: Berlin tariff area A (including the stations S+U Lichtenberg Bhf, S Nöldnerplatz), Cottbus tariff area AB and Potsdam tariff area AB.

City Ticket within VBB area

You automatically own a City Ticket if you hold a BahnCard 25 or BahnCard 50 and your DB train ticket shows the imprint „[city name]+City“? You then can take all means of public transport within the VBB area in order to get to your final destination or to get to the station your DB train departs. If you hold a BahnCard 100, you automatically own a City Ticket which allows you to make any trips by public transport within the areas as listed below.

Validation of the City Ticket in Berlin

The City Ticket is valid within the tariff zone A which is inside the circle line including the circle line as well as the stations S Nöldnerplatz and S+U Lichtenberg Bhf.
Please note:
If you travel from tariff zone A to tariff zone B or start your trip in tariff zone B, you must purchase and validate a regular single ticket Berlin AB or a short-haul ticket. This regulation is also valid for any trip beyond the stations S Nöldnerplatz and S+U Lichtenberg Bhf.
If you want to travel to or from Berlin’s tariff zone C, you need to purchase and validate a regular single ticket BC or short-haul ticket.

Validation of the City Ticket in Potsdam
The City Ticket is valid within Potsdam’s tariff zones AB.
Please note:
If you want to travel to or from Potsdam’s tariff zone C, you need to purchase and validate an extension ticket Potsdam or a short-haul ticket.
If you want to start your trip in or continue to Berlin’s tariff area, you whether need to purchase and validate a single ticket Berlin BC, Berlin ABC or a short-haul ticket.

Validation of the City Ticket in Cottbus
The City Ticket is valid within Cottbus’s tariff zones A and B.
Please note:
If you want to travel to or from Cottbus’s tariff zone C, you need to purchase and validate an extension ticket Cottbus or a short-haul ticket.

Further regulations
The City Ticket is only valid in combination with a BahnCard 25 or a BahnCard 50. It is further only valid the day of your outward journey (imprinted date) or the date you end your outward journey in case you interrupt the outward journey (latest stamp on your DB train ticket). Your City Ticket is valid the date of your return according to imprinted date.
